I’m not done yet

Depression is the leading cause of disability worldwide. And there are so so so many things that contribute to mental health decline, that I’ve dedicated my entire adult life to understand why our brains are so resilient and so sensitive at the same time.

I have studied it at a molecular level by evaluating the impacts of poor diet and high stress on behavior.

I have witnessed it in my colleagues & family, and in the work that I do to support marginalized people because we carry many more risk factors for depression & suicide.

I have experienced it in the high pressure situations I put myself in, and somehow I’m still here.

There’s no cure, no easy effective treatment, and everybody’s relationship with depression is different.

It’s a big dark cloud that looms over our society, and all we can do is hope that our toolkit is good enough to get us through the next bout that comes over us.

Anyway, I’m Dr. Liz and I’m looking for a postdoc fellowship because don’t think I’m ready to leave neuroscience research just yet.
